The other day I was at the beach with my beach friends. My beach friends are really friends of my in-laws, curated over 20 years of coming to the Cape and chasing sandbars with the same people. We were talking audiobooks and Audible and Britney Spears. I mentioned Libby. Of course. You know I had to.
Before I knew it, I was on their phones, signing them up for Boston Public Library cards and downloading the Libby app. (Did you know you can get a Boston Library card online simply by having a Massachusetts address?) (See? I’m doing it again.)

Hashtag Summer Reading.
Here are my five favorite books I’ve read this summer.
You can buy them all here, and check out my Instagram here.
You are Here by David Nicholls
A book on loneliness and falling in love as adults, set against the backdrop of a very long walk through the English countryside. I laughed out loud. I sent copies to multiple friends.
What Happened to Nina by Dermal McTiernan
Please ignore this terrible cover and believe me when I tell you this thriller is great. I read it in a day! It tells the story of a missing college girl (Nina) and her affluent boyfriend. It dives into how an investigation like this affects the whole family, and how money changes everything, always.
We need books we read in a day.
Chunky by Yehudi Mercado
A sweet graphic novel memoir tackling body positivity in a middle grade boy. It put a huge smile on my face.
Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan
Ahh my favorite romance, maybe this entire year. Annabel Monaghan really knows how to make my heart swoon. She also really knows how to write single mothers. (Please read Nora Goes off Script if you haven’t already.)
(I liked this book so much I wrote about it already here.)
You Could Make This Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith
A memoir of divorce and healing by the poet who brought us Good Bones. Beautiful and tragic. (I listened to the audio.)
Good Bones, in case you haven’t read it recently:
